From 24th August - 5th September 2025, high in the Swiss Alps, in the midst of nature, in the unspoilt mountain village of Falera, a setting is being created for informal discussions on the future of energy in the world. Students from different countries will share their views, approaches and new ideas, and make lasting contacts interdisciplinary with students and speakers worldwide.
The ISUenergy 2025 is a collaborative academic program of EELISA-Universities, ZHAW and the association ISUres and is open to students supported by EELISA as well as to other students outside EELISA universities.
The ISUenergy 2025 will cover a wide spectrum from the fundamentals of technologies an their development to the industrialisation of component production as well as the realisation of sustainable energy systems to the political framework conditions. This allows for a holistic view of the complex interrelationships involved in succeeding or failing in the energy transition to a sustainable economy.
Teaching methodologies are lectures in the mornings and hands-on labs with experiments and group work in the afternoons, there is plenty of room for the exchange of ideas and the discovery of exciting new research approaches or economic models.
Target groups are students coming from engineering disciplines such as systems engineering, electrical engineering, electronics, energy and environmental engineering, mechanical engineering and architecture, but also physics, chemistry, process engineering, computer science, economics and political science. Bachelor's, Master's and PhD students are all welcome.
In addition, we issue a final certificate of attendance and award 4 ECTS credits, if the final exam and the group project presentation are successful. Continuous attendance in full-time during the course days is compulsory!
Take advantage of your career by acquiring knowledge about sustainable energy production, distribution, storage and use, and networking with experts. Network with like-minded professionals and academics from around the world.
Find out more about the entire event in detail programme - what you will learn at ISUenergy.
The programme provides an introduction to the dominant future energy technologies for generation, distribution and storage, their development and industrialisation, economic viability and policy framework. The aim is to provide an in-depth overview.
Topics are grouped into 3 major categories:
1. Energy Production
2. Storage and Grid
3. Realisation and Sustainability
Thereby, theory is translated into practical know-how.
Well-known scientific researchers from leading universities and institutes will give lectures covering a wide range of topics along the market chain from the principles of renewable energies to their applications.
Theoretical knowledge will be complemented with practical workshops (table experiments) in the first week and creative group projects (e.g. design thinking, efficient production and storage of solar power and fuels, building a solar oven or installation of a LED lightening system) in the second week with special emphasis on hands-on experience. Overall ISU energy 2025 will be two weeks of highly intensive training in the interdisciplinary areas of renewable energies on university level supported by international experts.
